Ballet Pom' Kanel

Created in 1984, on the initiative of its artistic director Albert Alamelu, nicknamed D'jessy, the Ballet Pom'Kanel was born, a dance group, one of the best folk and traditional dance troupes in Martinique.

Pom'Kanel from Pomme Cannelle (Malay apple) is a local fruit with green scales and white flesh. His choreographies, inspired by West Indian, even Caribbean and African heritage, developed by D'Jessy and performed by young dancers, experienced and enthusiastic, amaze spectators across the island (hotels, public parties, etc.) and well beyond our borders.

Each year, a major tour is organized across Europe (France, Italy, Belgium, the United States, Japan, Canada) as part of a network of festivals, allowing the troupe to export its skills and win many trophies. A true ambassador of folklore, the Pom'Kanel ballet brilliantly promotes tourism in Martinique and the reputation of the municipality of Basse-Pointe, where they are from.
