Bananas flambé are a typical dessert from the West Indies. It combines both the most common fruit in Martinique, bananas and quality agricultural rum that we produce locally. It is a very easy to prepare dessert that you enjoy in many local restaurants. If you cannot travel, you can prepare it at home and have a taste of Martinique in advance to delight your taste buds.
Ingredients
For 6 servings:
- 6 very ripe bananas
- 3 sachets of vanilla sugar
- 1 glass of rum
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 lighter or a match
Preparation
- Heat a frying pan, melt the butter in it.
- Add the bananas previously peeled and cut lengthwise.
- Brown on each side.
- Sprinkle with vanilla sugar then pour in the rum.
- Flame using the lighter.
- When the flames are gone, it's ready and you can serve!
