Bananas flambé

Bananas flambé are a typical dessert from the West Indies. It combines both the most common fruit in Martinique, bananas and quality agricultural rum that we produce locally. It is a very easy to prepare dessert that you enjoy in many local restaurants. If you cannot travel, you can prepare it at home and have a taste of Martinique in advance to delight your taste buds.


For 6 servings:

  • 6 very ripe bananas
  • 3 sachets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 glass of rum
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 lighter or a match
  1. Heat a frying pan, melt the butter in it.
  2. Add the bananas previously peeled and cut lengthwise.
  3. Brown on each side.
  4. Sprinkle with vanilla sugar then pour in the rum.
  5. Flame using the lighter.
  6. When the flames are gone, it's ready and you can serve!
