If you love hiking, Martinique is the place for you! Every year since 2009, the TransMartinique® has been organized as the "hike of hikes" in Martinique.
Not only will you rub shoulders with hundreds of other runners, but you'll also have the chance to discover Martinique's many landscapes as you traverse the island from its northern to its southern tip.
Over a 134 km course (Ultra-trail 134 km and 5,000 meters of positive ascent for those in the know) from Grand'Rivière in the north of Martinique to Saint-Anne in the south of the island, you'll cross rivers, tropical forests and mountains. No fewer than 8 communes are on the route (Grand'Rivière, Morne-Rouge, Saint-Joseph, Lamentin, François, Vauclin, Marin and Saint-Anne).
The course culminates at 1,300 metres near Mount Pelée. As every year for the past 5 years, this race is organized in the first week of December. The TransMartinique is limited to 400 licensed and non-licensed participants aged 20 and over.
Good physical condition is a prerequisite.
The TransMartinique will start on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 00:00 from the commune of Grand'Rivière in the far north of Martinique. Two races are organized: an individual and a relay.
Visit the official Transmartinique website for more information.
