La Philippe forest is located in the north of Martinique. It is the legacy of the sharing of Fonds Saint Jacques in 1933 of which it is a piece of forest. From 1944, foresters planted mahoganys (Honduran Mahogany) there, then later around 1959, Caribbean pines on ancient savannahs.

It is one of the first forest tourism developments in Martinique. It was inaugurated in 1974.

At the Philippe forest, you can picnic thanks to the presence of barbecues, 10 white tables, 2 ajoupas (small hut built on stakes and made of branches and leaves), benches, toilets and a fountain.

Many paths are marked and lead to the discovery of pretty viewpoints on the sea and will lead the best hikers to Anse Charpentier where swimming remains risky however.

It is also a botanical route, the species are labeled, an arboretum of endangered species completes it.
