Musée de la Pagerie (Pagerie museum) is the birthplace in 1763 of Marie-Josephe Rose Tascher the Pagerie, Josephine de Beauharnais. The building is now a museum dedicated to her. The tour takes you through the ruins of the habitation destroyed by various cyclones where you can see the crib, portraits and letters that Napoleon would have addressed to her.
You will also visit the reception area, the botanical garden, the ruins of the factory, the birthplace, the cane mill and manioquerie. This is where she learned her future marriage with Napoleon Bonaparte that she would marry in 1796.
Two mayors of Trois Ilets have decided to devote space to the famous Empress born in the town. Thus in 1930, the mayor Gabriel Hayot devoted a first museum near the church where she was baptized and then 1944 mayor Robert Rose Rosette acquired the property where the museum is installed currently.
