Château Aubéry (Castle Aubéry) formerly Maison Rivail was built in the early 20th century. It was owned by Eugene Aubéry (1879-1942). Eugene Aubéry was a white of humble origins. His marriage to Bertha Hayot, daughter of Gabriel Hayot, large landowner, propeled him into the highest economic spheres.
He was first director of central factory of Lareinty and later became General Counsel of Lamentin.
Built between 1928 and 1931, the castle of four floors where 30 pieces are distributed reflects the status of its large landowner. To enhance the character of the building, the architects Balesco and Volpi and favored the neo-classical style for the building, witnessed by the steps which led a double marked circular staircase in its initial mosaic owner "AE 1930".
Eugene Aubéry was involved in the murder of André Aliker on January 12, 1934 he would certainly sponsor. In 1942, at his death, his wife and eight children left Maison Rivail.
The castle then became the property of the General Council of Martinique. In 1954, he hosts the École Normale (Normal School) and the école d'agriculture (School of Agriculture).
Abandoned since it was sold against a symbolic franc to the town of Ducos in 1987. The building is now protected under the Historic Monuments, since December 31, 1992.
Its materials undergoing degradation by the climate, rehabilitation was necessary to restore the building as it was in its heyday.
It is located in Croix-Rivail district, close to the old road of François (N6). It is not possible to visit now because of work.
