National Holiday

As a French region, Martinique commemorates France’s national holiday on July 14. This date marks the storming of the Bastille in 1789, a pivotal event that launched the French Revolution and led to the abolition of the privileges of the nobility and clergy.

On this occasion, a military parade is held in the streets of Fort-de-France, featuring the island’s military and security forces.
