Eric Virgal

Eric Virgal was born on June 28, 1953, in Fort-de-France. He is an author, composer, zouk singer and producer.

His career in music, which began in the 80s, made him one of the most famous singers on the French Caribbean music scene. His talent, his songs, and his sweet and captivating voice have earned him the nickname of the "Martinican crooner".

His successes are sung today in the West Indies, in metropolitan France and Haiti. He has performed many duets with the fairer sex, notably with the son,g Pa fè mwen la penn', Danielle René-Corail (Plézi lanmou) and Orlane (Viv'épiw, Et pourtant, An jou béni) whom he launched the career of a singer.

At the time, zouk had Kassav' or Zouk Machine as its flagship group, young emerging talents such as Edith Lefel, Tanya Saint-Val, Jean-Michel Rotin, Annick and Jean-Claude, Experience 7, and Gilles Floro.

In 2002, on his album ZikZag, he composed the song "Aimé Césaire" in homage to the poet.

Since the beginning of the 2010s, Eric Virgal has been more discreet as a singer, working more behind the scenes of the musical world.
