For over 30 years, Martinique has held its international half-marathon one month before Christmas (with the exception of 2015, when the date was set for October 4). Numerous delegations from all over the world take part in this race through the streets of Fort-de-France.
The crowds lining the sidewalks support both local runners and those from other countries in their efforts.
The 37th edition of the Fort-de-France International Half Marathon in Martinique will take place on Sunday November 26, 2023, with the start on the seafront at 6:00 am sharp.
Three races are scheduled around this event:
- the jou ouvè at 5:30 a.m.
- the half-marathon at 6h00
- the mixed half relay at 6:03 a.m.
First held in 1985, the Martinique Half Marathon has become a fixture both locally and internationally, to the extent that it now features on all international "long-distance race" calendars. Today, it is seen as a tourist product, and tours of the island are organized around the event.
Popular with amateur and professional sportsmen and women alike, edition 37 will feature a host of renowned international champions from Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.
