Located in a rural area of Trois Ilets in the neighborhood "La Ferme", the Savane des esclaves is a 2-hectare park created by Gilbert Larose.
With no financial support and his own, Gilbert Larose had first cleared the place and reconstructed the village "Antan Lontan" with the habitat and lifestyle of "neg-mawon" slaves who fled the plantations to take refuge in the hills and lived autonomously.
There would also planted bananas, dasheen, cassava and sweet potatoes. The tour lasts about an hour, it will take you into the past and traditions of Martinique. During this tour, you will see wood houses, medicinal plants, gardens and birds and a small museum dedicated to slavery.
Animations (making cassava, cocoa, wine tastings and concerts) are offered regularly on the subject of slavery and the past of Martinique. A shop offers the products from the farm.
To get there, direction the Trois Ilets and then follow the instructions.
